About the Role
We are seeking an Accountant to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll serve as a financial co-pilot—recording, analyzing, and reporting data to ensure fiscal accountability is managed responsibly and in compliance with regulations. By turning raw financial data into clear, actionable insights, you’ll help leaders make informed decisions, uncover opportunities for growth, and maintain transparency. Ultimately, you’ll bring the clarity, structure, and accountability that keep a business stable, efficient, and ready for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare financial reports and conduct analysis to support project management and business decision-making.
- Billing and Accounts Management: Manage project billing, perform account reconciliations, apply cash payments to accounts receivable, and maintain the company's cash book.
- Month-End Close: Execute month-end close procedures, including posting journal entries, calculating revenue, and performing accruals.
- General Ledger and Systems Support: Provide general accounting support and utilize an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for data input and extraction. Proficiency with query languages and Microsoft Office is a plus.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audit: A crucial part of the role is ensuring strict compliance with both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and specialized government regulations like the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). This includes meticulously documenting all financial transactions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- Minimum of 5 years of governmental accounting experience
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar) and Excel
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate complex financial information clearly
- CPA certification or active progress toward certification preferred
